Just released Nielsen//Net Rankings show OnTheSnow.co.uk reached 334,091 unique visitors in January 2010, a leap of 40 percent over last year. OnTheSnow.co.uk reaches skiers in the United Kingdon, and is part of the OnTheSnow Web platform that produces snow sports Web sites in 13 markets throughout the world.

Nielsen data shows OnTheSnow’s global platform once again was the most-visited, dominant snow sports portal in the world. Nielsen reported the platform logged 2,247,878 unique visitors to its sites in the same time period, a leap of 40 percent over its January 2009 audit.

The popular Web portal that combines worldwide snow condition reports with news, features, guides, and resort overviews, and a wide Internet community, confirmed its unchallenged dominance through a new report by Hitwise Competitive Intelligence.

New features, including ski equipment tests and reviews, and an expanded ski holiday planning information led OnTheSnow.co.uk to significantly increase its market share in the UK by a jump of 10 percent from a year ago. OnTheSnow.co.uk is published by Mountain News Corp.

“The global economy continues to struggle, but skiers and snowboarders remain passionate about their sport and are looking for a place to get and share information with each other,” said Mountain News Global Managing Director Chad Dyer.

“The continued audited growth of OnTheSnow.co.uk throughout Europe is an affirmation that skiers and snowboarders use the Web as their primary media source. OnTheSnow.co.uk features the type of news and comparative information content skiers planning a holiday are looking for,” Dyer said.

The Nielsen audit certified there were 2,820,395 user sessions in January 2010, with page impressions at 12,523,661. OnTheSnow’s global editorial staff of 20 professional travel and ski editors provide pertinent, timely content on 13 worldwide versions of the portal.
